Knighting CeremoniesKnighting Ceremonies has been a traditional part of Jedi Gatherings since the year of 2010. Founded by Gabriel Calderon and the Chicago Jedi.
Every ceremony is different and improves through trial and error. Parts of it are kept confidential for the purpose of surprise and making the responses during the Knight to Be's Review be unrehearsed and from the heart. The basic run down of a Knighting Ceremony is thus:
Knighting SubmissionFor those of you attending the gathering whom are looking to gain recognition as a Jedi Knight with the offline Jedi Chapters affiliated with the JRC and Gathered Community (Chicago Jedi, Heartland Jedi, Jedi of the Mid-South, Michigan Jedi & Maryland Jedi Chapters).
Anyone can be submitted, you do not need to be a member of one of the aforementioned Chapters to undergo the trials. The only requirement is that you have someone (which has a presence [student, knight, master, clergy, associate] in the community that can be verified) sponsor you and submit your candidacy to the the Gathering Committee. You can petition someone to submit your name, or they can do so of their own accord. Of course, my only (personal) request is that if you are submitting someone's name- please let them know ahead of time so they aren't surprised when they find themselves being taken off to the side and questioned about their Jedi Path . The submission form (which is very short) is provided below and can be sent to Gabriel Calderon (either through PM, email, or facebook, any are fine). The deadline is the first day of the gathering. Although it would be great to have your sponsor present, know that it is not a requirement. The only requirements are that candidate be present (it's sorta difficult to do a trial in the fashion we have set up if you are not there) and ready for the trials. Name: Online Name (if applicable): Sponsor: In no less than 200 words why do you feel this individual should be knighted? (please cite specific examples) |
